AI and Agile in Action: From Ideation to Working Product – Fast!
AI is reshaping how teams move from a product idea to real delivery. For Agile practitioners and delivery professionals, the question isn’t just what AI can do—it’s how to use AI responsibly in Agile to accelerate progress from backlog to working product, while keeping humans accountable for value, quality, prioritization, and governance.
In this interactive evening seminar, speakers will demonstrate how AI + Agile delivery practices work together in practice. Using VS Code and GitHub Copilot. The live demo uses GoGoChef, a prototype social cooking application, originally used in earlier Agile learning as a simple, relatable product concept.
Participants will learn where AI can accelerate delivery, including:
- Turning vague ideas into clear backlog items
- Improving user stories and acceptance criteria
- Supporting sprint planning and delivery options
- Generating and refining a working product increment
- Accelerating reviews and feedback loops
- Identifying risks, assumptions, and quality considerations earlier.
- At the same time, the seminar emphasizes a key principle: AI does not replace strong leadership or Agile discipline.

You’ll also be invited to share feedback on whether PMI Hong Kong should offer a future one- or two-Saturday hands-on workshop, where participants build GoGoChef in teams using AI + Agile delivery practices.

Mr. Andrew Coates is an AI Practice and Transformation Leader with more than 20 years of experience in enterprise change, Agile delivery, practitioner capability and major technology programmes across Asia and North America. As Director, Agile Practice, Asia at Sun Life, he leads the regional Agile practitioner community and partners with 14 Agile Coaches supporting multiple markets across Asia.
Andrew combines regional practice leadership with hands-on experience in Generative AI, Microsoft 365 Copilot, GitHub Copilot, AI agents and responsible AI adoption. He has supported AI use-case discovery, proof-of-concept initiatives, practitioner enablement and AI-assisted delivery approaches. He has also designed and delivered more than 35 hands-on Agile training classes.
Andrew is an AWS Certified AI Practitioner and AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, as well as a SAFe Agilist, Certified ScrumMaster and Certified Product Owner. He holds an MSc in Information Technology and a BSc (Honours) in Computer Science.
