Future-Ready PMs: From Student Innovation to Next-Gen Workforce
This monthly session brings together emerging project talents and industry professionals to explore the future of project management from two important perspectives.
The session begins with presentations from two winning student teams who will represent the association in the PMI APAC Student Competition 2026. Aligned with the theme “Resilience for Sustainable Impact,” the teams will showcase how they address real-world challenges through adaptability, innovation, and sustainable thinking. Participants are encouraged to engage and provide constructive feedback to support the teams’ final preparation.
The event then shifts to an industry panel discussion focused on working effectively with the next generation of talent, including Gen Z and Gen Alpha. As these groups become an integral part of the workforce, understanding their values, working styles, and expectations is critical for project success.
This session creates a bridge between future project leaders and current industry practitioners, fostering mutual learning and preparing organizations for a more resilient and sustainable future.

Dr. Jacky Ting is an Adjunct Associate Professor at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, with over 15 years of experience leading digital transformation and AI innovation across both business and technology domains. He has held key leadership roles at organizations including AS Watson Group, Cognizant Technology Solutions, and PCCW Solutions, where he drove large-scale innovation initiatives and cultivated high-performing, cross-functional teams.
Passionate about nurturing the next generation of talent, Dr. Ting actively bridges academia and industry to equip young professionals with future-ready skills. His teaching, mentorship, and industry engagement focus on empowering students and early-career practitioners to apply AI, data analytics, and emerging technologies in real-world contexts. He is also a judge for the HKICT Awards (FinTech Stream and Student Innovation Stream) and the international Stevie Awards, supporting the recognition and development of innovative talent.
Dr. Ting holds a PhD specializing in AI, Medical Informatics, and Data Mining. His research explores the application of AI, big data, Web3, and IoT to enhance customer experience and business performance. His work has received international recognition, including multiple Stevie® Awards (2026) and accolades from the International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva. With over 30 academic publications, he continues to advance AI innovation while fostering a strong ecosystem for talent growth and development.

Emil Chan is a FinTech evangelist, digital transformation consultant, and startup mentor with decades of experience across banking, cross-border financial systems, and emerging technologies such as Web3 and digital finance. He has played a key role in shaping Hong Kong’s financial and innovation landscape, advising corporations and SMEs on navigating digital transformation and building future-ready capabilities.
Committed to nurturing the next generation of talent, Emil actively bridges academia and industry. He has served for over a decade as an adjunct professor, visiting lecturer, and corporate trainer at leading institutions including CityU, HKU SPACE, PolyU, HKUST, and Lingnan University. Through his teaching and mentorship, he equips students and young professionals with practical knowledge and an innovation mindset.
Beyond academia, Emil mentors startups through platforms such as Cyberport, supporting entrepreneurs in scaling ideas into impactful ventures. He also holds leadership roles in key industry organizations, including Founding Chairman of the Association of Cloud and Mobile Computing Professionals and Chairman of the FinTech Committee at the Smart City Consortium.
Emil is dedicated to fostering a collaborative ecosystem that empowers young talent and drives sustainable growth in the digital economy.
