About the Topic:

In this presentation, Mr. Henry Ng, Cybersecurity Subject Matter Expert, will explain how cybersecurity has become an essential element in our lives. He will also share on how IT has advanced in the past 20 years, that has forced enterprises to digitalize to keep the competitive edge. This has also led to the individual high adoption of the online world. But at the same time, such technological disruption has introduced many cybersecurity issues resulting in data privacy issues, data breaches, and security incidents. Not only are financial institutions concerned about protecting their digital assets against cybersecurity threats, cybersecurity can cause national security issues such as affecting critical infrastructure and even the political status of a country. Speaker will illustrate how cybersecurity can affect different industries with examples. Speaker will explain why Fixing cybersecurity issues are complex and difficulties behind it. Finally, speaker will describe several renowned cybersecurity frameworks and best practices that can be applied to many organizations. By attending this presentation, the audience will be able to better understand –

  • What is cybersecurity?
  • How cybersecurity affects enterprises?
  • What possible solutions are out in the market for cybersecurity?

About the Speaker:

Mr. Henry Ng is IT and Cybersecurity veteran for 30 years. He has held various senior management positions managing and growing cybersecurity businesses in the APAC region.

Working for Thales for 9 years, he was managing director of Thales Critical Information Systems and Cybersecurity business line looking after the entire Asia region. At Thales, Henry built up the cybersecurity business from scratch to managing a team of 30. He oversaw the regional team to help APAC customers address cybersecurity by protecting against cyber security threats and managing IT security risks. Projects include conducting cybersecurity maturity assessment, strategy studies, security assessment and audit, PCI and other regularly security engagements, penetration testing and ethnical hacking. Customers come from different industry sectors including banking and finance, insurance, telecommunications, transportation and utilities, manufacturing and higher education institutes. Prior to joining Thales, Henry also held senior positions at Verizon Business and HP consulting security practice team.

Henry was appointed as the adjunct professor for University Malaysia of Computer Science and Engineering and serves in several cybersecurity professional bodies including the director of CSA Hong Kong and Macau Chapter and member of the Hong Kong Expert Group on Cloud Security and Privacy. He has been invited frequently as speaker and panellist in many Cybersecurity and risk seminars in the region. He also teaches IT security courses and helps promote security awareness to the local community by speaking in schools and the public.

Henry is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and a Certified Information Systems Security Architecture Professional (ISSAP). He holds a Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA.
