Topic Quality Implementation for Construction Projects

Programme Highlights:
Quality Management is very important in the Construction Projects. The speaker will share the quality management performance improvement by adopting risk management approaches: the basic concept of project quality management; cost of quality in project; elements of project quality plan and inspection and test plan; suitable quality control tools for monitoring the projects within the triple constraints; and lean management approaches for project implementation.

Speakers:
Mr Coleman TSE has more than 15 years working experiences in Quality Management. He joined Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency (HKQAA) as the General Manager since 2006, being responsible for business development and operation management of Construction Business Division; and General Manager of China Desk roles in 2011, representing the Headquarters of HKQAA to support the operations including technical and business development of Mainland China Operations.

Dr. Sammy Wan is specialized in evaluation of industrial strategies in construction engineering and has published numerous articles and technical papers on this topic. He has been working as a qualified quality, safety and environmental practitioner by profession since 1999 and has been appointed Quality Assurance Manager and Deputy Management Representative of Quality, Safety and Environmental Management Systems of the corporate since 2007.

All that you need to know about dispute resolution. Alice will introduce the current court practice, highlight the essential features of the new Arbitration Ordinance, and share her experience in mediation.

Speakers:
Speaker – Ms Alice To, Legal Director, Pinsent Masons' Projects & Construction Group. Alice specialises in dispute resolution work with a focus on construction and engineering disputes, and complex commercial disputes. She qualified as a solicitor in Hong Kong in 1996. She is a fellow of The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and an HKIAC accredited mediator.

Jointly Organised by PMIHK Engineers’ Club and YMC – Wine Tasting and Wine Making Workshop on 13 Aug 2011

A Wine Tasting and Wine Making Workshop jointly organized with HKIE Young Members Committee will be held on 13 Aug 2011 (Sat), from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at Chai Wan (adjacent to Chai Wan MTR Station).
Have you ever thought of making a wine of your own? Come and join our Wine Tasting and Wine Making Workshop if your answers are affirmative. Guided by experienced wine brewers, the workshop offers an extraordinary experience of brewing red wine, white wine and even ice wine from bits and pieces. You can even taste your own harvest when the wine is mature!
The fee of this workshop is HK$460 including a wine tasting course, wine making workshop, wine making materials and 2 to 3 bottles of self-made wine, including Napa Valley Merlot, Washington Point Gris and Cabernet Franc Ice Wine, for each participant. Payment details will be advised upon registration. The number of participants is limited to 40. Prior registration is required and applications will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis. Managing working relationships are essential part of the human resources management when you are involved with any projects. The speaker will share his project experiences involving project professionals from MNCs. He will share with audiences on his work on high potentials who are working with projects for Fortune 500 companies.
Speaker:

Mr. David Wong is a management consultant, specializes to accelerate professionals to become more influential and effective managers. His project experiences include expatriate positions based in San Jose in USA, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen in China.

His project experiences are extensive with leadership roles to manage company start-ups, global supply chain management, technology transfer, human capital management, productivity, cost reduction and quality programs. He has also designed and implemented leadership programs to service clients including HKPC, HK PolyU, HKU Space, HAECO, Bureau Veritas, Crowne Plaza Hotel, Siemens and Johnson & Johnson.

He is a regular speaker on ‘Managing Client Expectations and Working with Clients’ Staff ’ for Business Consulting Practicum Program at the faculty of Business & Economics of University of Hong Kong. He has also been invited to speak on ‘Personal Transformation’ and ‘Leadership Development’ for MBA graduates at Hong Kong University of Science & Technology.
